Suit of Swords Tarot Cards
The air suit of the tarot: thoughts, truth, conflict and decisions.
The meaning of the Suit of Swords
The Suit of Swords is the air suit of the tarot. It governs thoughts, truth, communication and conflict. Several Swords cards look painful (the Three, Eight, Nine and Ten), but they mostly describe the mind under stress and what clear thinking can do about it.
The Ace is a breakthrough of clarity. The suit then moves through a stalemate (Two), heartbreak (Three), rest (Four), a hollow victory (Five), a calmer crossing (Six), strategy and secrecy (Seven), feeling trapped (Eight), anxiety (Nine) and a painful ending (Ten).
The court cards stand for sharp minds: the curious Page, the driven Knight, the honest and independent Queen and the fair, authoritative King. When Swords dominate a reading, the question is usually about a decision, a conversation or a belief that needs a second look.
